Virgolette!

I came across these quotes and thought I’d share them witchu, some of them are really deep and others are just based on the originators shallow mind and naïve manner.

Out of respect, I will not disclose names of writers of quotes that I personally think are rubbish, however for each quote that comes off really deep, I’ll proudly tell you who the bad mother fucker behind it is.

“Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you.” (What about using others and taking advantage of their stupidity/ignorance – doesn’t that offer you more resources and an edge over others? RUBBISH) I say make the most of yourself but if it’s not enough, expand your horizon. It’s a doggy dog world out there and you will not be spared because of your weaknesses.

“Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.” – Leonardo Da Vinci (No wonder he is one of the greatest minds ever known to man)

“God makes three requests of his children: Do the best you can, where you are, with what you have, now” (If God said it, who am I to object).

“When all’s said and done, all roads lead to the same end. So it’s not so much which road you take, as how you take it.” (What the FUCK!).

“Successful people aren’t born that way. They become successful by establishing the habit of doing things unsuccessful people don’t like to do. The successful people don’t always like these things themselves; they just get on and do them.” – Anonymous Author but they are spot-on.

“Try and fail, but don’t fail to try.” – Stephen Kaggwa. This is a classic and timeless quote. Oh and the author is Black. (which kind of explains the timelessness)

“What you want to do, and what you can do, is limited only by what you can dream.” – Mike Melville. (My personal favourite).

“Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.” – Oprah Winfrey (And she’s rich so doubt her at your own risk).

“When you reach the top, keep climbing.” (To where…..?)

“You are doing your best only when you are trying to improve what you are doing” (Come on!!!!!!!! WTF, this is bullshit, what if you are the worst and you improve to second worst, is that best, NO!) I say you are doing best when no one can fuck with you in that particular area.

“Anything worth doing is worth doing slowly.” Fuck this shit!!  Picture this: You are in the wild and a few meters away from your car, then you spot a pride of lions coming your way, is it worth it for you to run back to your car, YES! Should you do it slowly as this wanker is suggesting, NO!……..Fucker! I say apply speed where speed is of the essence no matter how worthy or unworthy what you are doing is.

“I do the very best I know how, the very best I can, and I mean to keep on doing so until the end” – Abraham Lincoln (And he can’t be fucked with).

“I do not think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday.” – Abraham Lincoln (But he can fuck with you).

“The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world’s problems” – Mahatma Gandhi (RESPECT)

“Almost everything you do will seem insignificant, but it is important that you do it” (Well, not everything maybe).

“Don’t be afraid to give your best to what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.” (Not necessarily but I agree with doing everything with perfection, no matter how small or big).

“Insist upon yourself. Be original.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson. I say so too!

“The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.” – H. Jackson Brown, Jr. (very true)

“Whatever you are, be a good one.” – Abraham Lincoln (My other favourite)

“We have to do the best we can. This is our sacred human responsibility.” – Albert Einstein.

“Many times a day I realize how much my own life is built upon the labors of my fellowmen, and how earnestly I must exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received” – Albert Einstein.

“Advancement only comes with habitually doing more than you are asked.” (In a certain culture this is called LUGEZIGEZI and it’s necessarily a good thing).

“To be nobody but yourself in a world that’s doing its best to make you somebody else, is to fight the hardest battle you are ever going to fight. Never stop fighting.” – E.E. Cummings

“The worst thing one can do is not to try, to be aware of what one wants and not give in to it, to spend years in silent hurt wondering if something could have materialized – and never knowing” – David Viscott. (I agree and I’m the shit, who the fuck are you?).

“You must do the thing you think you cannot do” – Eleanor Roosevelt.

“Don’t use a lot where a little will do” – Proverbs.

“The best is the enemy of the good.” – Voltaire (I agree).

“Better slip with foot than tongue” – Benjamin Franklin.

“If you do things well, do them better. Be daring, be first, be different, be just.” – Anita Roddick.

“What we really want to do is what we are really meant to do. When we do what we are meant to do, money comes to us, doors open for us, we feel useful, and the work we do feels like play to us.” – Julia Cameron (I totally agree).

Peace!

One Response to “Virgolette!”

  1. Some great quotes there. And I like your comments in response, especially the slow motion one – you planted a very funny image in my head. Do you think the author meant that if you move REALLY slow even lions won’t notice you? “Move like a tree and scary things will ignore you.”
I imagine the author missing trains, lovers falling asleep under him (sorry to assume it’s a him}, tea evaporating before she can drink it etc.
    Great post.
